What is TRIO SSS?
We are a federally-funded program that works with about 140 students each year. We help with all aspects of the college experience and help you prepare for and transition into your next journey, whether continuing your education or starting a new career.
We offer support and guidance for eligible students who are:
- right out of high school
- returning after several years
- working
- parents/caretakers
- planning to transfer
- going right into a career
- no idea what they want to do
- top of the class
- struggling to pass
- and everything in between!
Eligibility
If you have one or more of these characteristics:
- 1st generation college student (neither parent/guardian with a 4-year degree)
- Income-eligible/Pell-eligible
- Have a disability of any kind
Both of these:
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident
- High School Diploma or GED

- Scholarships: TRIO-only scholarships offered each semester
- Fee waivers: Get the transfer application fee waived at most 4-year colleges
- Free honor society memberships: We'll pay the fee if you get invited to Phi Theta Kappa or Tri-Alpha at GOCC
- Fun Trips: Opportunities to go on fun, educational trips to 4-year colleges, museums, musicals, other cities, and more for FREE!

We are committed to providing holistic educational, career, and personal support to first-generation students, low-income students, and students with disabilities to equip participants with the skills and experience necessary to successfully graduate and transfer to a four-year college.
